Hebbronville Border Patrol Agents Seize Nearly 3 Tons of Marijuana
Laredo, Texas - Border Patrol agents from the Hebbronville station seized more than 5,700 pounds of marijuana from a tractor-trailer Monday. "This case illustrates that the immigration checkpoints are an effective element of the defense-in-depth strategy we employ to secure our nation's borders," said Laredo Sector Chief Patrol Agent Carlos X. Border Patrol Canine Leads to Marijuana Hidden in Trailer Floor
Tucson, Ariz. - Border Patrol agents Tuesday seized nearly 1,550 pounds of marijuana from a truck pulling a flatbed trailer that entered the United States in a remote area near Sonoita, Ariz. About 11:25 a.m., Border Patrol agents assigned to the Sonoita Station encountered a Ford pick-up truck pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with steel pipes being driven by a resident alien. (more)

CBP Reminds: Don't Bring Hardwood Firewood into U.S. Without Proof of Treatment
Washington - Customs and Border Protection inspects loads of firewood coming from Canada into the United States to prevent the entry of unwanted guests-the six-legged kind. But the U.S. is finding that inspection is not enough. On January 1, noncommercial shipments of hardwood firewood must be accompanied by either a treatment certificate issued by the treatment facility or an attached treatment label. (more)

420,000 Counterfeit Computer Parts Seized in CBP Enforcement Operation
Washington - Customs and Border Protection working to protect businesses and consumers from counterfeit and pirated goods, targeted and seized more than 420,000 imports of counterfeit integrated circuits and computer network components bearing 50 different counterfeit trademarks in a CBP enforcement operation in May and June.
